If you talked to black parents who have had their kids knifed I’d reckon they’d say stop and search should crank up.
It’s not racist to target the likely offenders and like it or not they are young black males in the main.
As horrifying as that may be to Millie Tant of Islington.

Until carrying a knife comes with a minimum 5 year jail sentence, they will keep carrying.

The MET are fucked..all they can do is take it out on football supporters..fair game right there.

Mr sensible would say if black youths are at it..targets those black nuggets..but..no..that's racist.

Don’t know where that 23 figure comes from. There were about 150,000 stop and searches in London last year. It’s fallen a lot but not that much!

It was Theresa May herself who demanded stop and search was curtailed when she was Home Secretary

That stop and search statistic is mental.

They got things under control with operation trident. Only a matter of time though before it was declared racist.

Good work GLA. Let kids die instead of seeing the reality because of PC.

That's 1,406 people who might now potentially "like" a Police facebook page.

Get some perspective, man...

Re: London now more deadly than New York
I live in a nice part of town and see some 'spoilt rotten' kids but I probably see more grubby and undernourished or malnourished kids. Loads of kids who are obviously being given two quid for their dinner and spend it in the chicken shop.

A pal who's a teacher says more kids are coming to school hungry than ever and during all the snow tried to keep school open not because any kids would miss their education but because they were afraid kids would go hungry. It's a brutal life for some, even in central London.

I read a pretty startling statistic today which ties in with playing politics with the police.

'In London, the use of stop and search has dropped from 1,429 instances in 2011-12 to 23 in 2016-17'.

23 stop and searches in London in a year? Isn't that an open invitation to carry a knife?

Re: London now more deadly than New York
A good point made about East Europe not suffering from the same kind of crime as London.
The reasons?
Britain is not a cohesive society anymore, perhaps that suits the powers that be, divide and rule.
Also children in Britain are spoilt rotten and get away with murder.
Molly coded and spoilt by teachers police and everyone.
I would know I'm in East Europe now and it'd so less on edge here. Young people know how to behave and respect adults.

Anyway, no worries people, apparently the chair of the all-party parliamentary group on knife crime is proposing that "young people who commit violence offences should be banned from using social media such as YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram."

That'll learn 'em.

I suspect that the link is not made more public on account that many of the information providers are also users and don't want the spotlight turned on them.

Declassifying Marijuana would be a big step in tackling several apparently unrelated societal problems - in this case it would break the link between soft & hard drugs which are often available through the same supplier. It would probably encourage more grow-your-own, reducing the need for some of the smaller crimes committed to get money to buy a hit.

It won't solve ALL the problems, but that's no reason to not try and address SOME of the problems.

I've met a bloke. Really nice bloke. Who went to jail for dealing coke. They only supplied very high end people like judges, lawyers, entertainers etc. He said there was no violence in his experoence but the point is the entire society is tied into illegal activity. We all have some kind of part in the bigger picture.
